And we are a company that focuses on people
People with the right skills have the potential to make a positive difference. As experts in recruitment and skills development, we want to help people and companies fulfill their potential and create a more sustainable world.

We create opportunities for people to develop
To make the shift to a sustainable society, we need people with the right skills to push society forward. People who've found their purpose in work that inspires them. We're committed to unlocking people's full potential and making a positive impact on people, the planet, and society.
We are committed to ensuring that everyone who works for us finds a job that brings them joy and to helping them fulfill their potential in that role.
We strive to be the best career partner for those looking to change careers as well as those early in their careers, and to ensure that people from different backgrounds have the same opportunities.
Our commitment to people extends beyond our daily business, and we seek to provide opportunities for development through community initiatives, including pro bono work, donations, and volunteer work.

We are accelerating the transition to a sustainable society
Skills shortages are one of the biggest obstacles to the transition to a sustainable society. We know that there is a lack of skills in specific areas that are required to innovate or scale up new technology. Through the Academic Work Academy concept, people with the right mindset, motivation, and abilities can switch to a new career in IT and tech. To do this, we use evidence-based recruitment—a method that reduces the impact of unconscious bias and focuses on candidate potential rather than experience.
It is crucial for the transition to a sustainable society that people who are often overlooked for irrelevant reasons can change careers and remain relevant in a dynamic labor market.
We want to be an active part of the transition to a sustainable society. That is why we have created a sustainability training program for our consultants and employees. By educating our employees about sustainability, we can have a positive impact on these companies, their cultures, and their workplaces.
The training program has already started in Sweden with a program called Sustainability Accelerator, and we expect around 5,000 people to participate in the training. We hope to expand this training to colleagues in other countries in the near future.

We are committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
As part of our sustainability strategy, we are now committing to the Science Based Targets initiative. By participating in the initiative, our group of companies will receive crucial guidance on how to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society.

We want to become a climate-positive company.
We are committed to becoming a climate-positive company. CO2 neutrality is no longer enough. Companies must also do their part to contribute to a more sustainable planet. We must integrate sustainability as a key issue through our employees, consultants, and the customers we support.
By building awareness and educating our colleagues, we can integrate sustainability into everything we do.
By the end of 2023, we will have offset all our known historical CO2 emissions since Academic Work was founded in 1998 through partnerships with three organizations: Siaya Cookstoves in Kenya, Nakau REDD+ in Fiji, and CommuniTree in Nicaragua. These projects work to reduce the demand for firewood, preserve forests, and reforest depleted forests. There is always more we can do to protect the planet, and we are committed to playing a major role.
